Anxiety Therapy for Adults

When worry is difficult to switch off, everyday decisions and responsibilities can begin to feel overwhelming. Therapy offers a place to understand what you are experiencing and explore ways forward.

I’m John W. Wilson, PsyD, an Atlanta-based licensed clinical psychologist providing virtual psychotherapy for adults, including those experiencing anxiety disorders.

Understanding Anxiety

Anxiety is a common human experience. When fear or worry persists, feels difficult to manage, or interferes with daily life, professional support may help.
Anxiety can take different forms, including persistent worry, panic, social fears, and specific phobias.

Experiences may include:

  • Worry that feels difficult to control

  • Feeling restless, irritable, or constantly on edge

  • Muscle tension or difficulty relaxing

  • Trouble concentrating or sleeping

  • Avoiding situations because of fear or anticipated distress

These experiences do not automatically mean you have an anxiety disorder. An assessment can help clarify the pattern, consider other possible causes, and identify appropriate treatment options.

How Anxiety Treatment Can Help

Treatment may involve psychotherapy, medication, or both, depending on the type of anxiety and your individual needs.

Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is a research-supported approach that helps people examine patterns of thinking and behavior associated with anxiety. For persistent generalized worry, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) is another option that emphasizes responding differently to difficult thoughts and taking steps toward meaningful activities.

The approach should fit your concerns, preferences, and circumstances. Contact me to discuss how I work with anxiety and whether my practice is a suitable fit.

Tele-Therapy for Anxiety

I provide virtual psychotherapy for adults by phone or video. Video appointments take place through Zoom for Healthcare, using encrypted communication and privacy safeguards in accordance with HIPAA requirements.

Contact me to discuss your concerns and check whether services are available where you are located.

You can also review the Fees & Payments page before requesting an appointment.

Taking the Next Step

If anxiety is affecting your daily life, you are welcome to get in touch. An initial conversation can help clarify what you are looking for, answer questions about therapy, and explore whether working together makes sense.
